Countdown to 2017!

new-years-eve-2016
It’s officially New Year’s Eve!! The time of the year where we reflect on the year behind us and look forward to the year before us. When I look back on 2016 I don’t like everything that I see. I lost myself in 2016 and in 2017 I would like to find myself again. During the year I found myself getting discouraged about school, trying to take care of everyone else, and not taking care of my health. I let my grades drop and allowed my weight to rise. I had more anxiety this year than I ever have had. I lost the love of my life, my dog, Justin.
Of course there were good things I went on vacation with the most unique extended family ever. I went with my boyfriend for his first ever vacation! I got a new car and got a new dog, Barrett. I attempted to make more meaningful friendships, but found myself stressing about pleasing everyone. I tried many new things and found new things that I would like to try.
In 2017 I would like to get back to knowing me and loving me. Yes that does include wanting to lose weight, and continue the mantra “new year, new me”, but I do truly feel like I lost myself 2016. I want to read more, explore new things, and find out who I am again. Basically, I’m going to be selfish. I still plan on loving my family, my dog, and my boyfriend, and will try to give them what they need at a reasonable expense to myself. In 2017 I would like to be unequivocally happy in everything that I do. What are some of your resolutions for the new year? Until next time,

Happy New Year!!!! Make a reading resolution!

(yes I know it says 2010, but we can all just ignore that right?!)

It is New Year’s Eve and everyone is wondering what they are going to do tonight, what they’re going to wear, and better yet what their resolution is for the new year. I have never found the lure of going out on New Years to be in large crowds and confusion.

Instead, as I count down to the New Year I tend to watch football, and read a couple of books. As I continue to read more books I have added another resolution on to my list. One of my resolutions is to read at least one book for choice a month. Being in school that can be kind of hard, but I will try to make it work.

Today I spent a lot of time in Barnes and Nobles just looking at books and seeing which ones I wanted to read. It has been such a long time since I have actually been inside of a book store, since I have a Kindle, that it was such a refreshing feeling to sit on the floor and look at all of these books that I haven’t heard of, and want to read. I’m pretty sure that I added about 10 more books onto my list. In order to see what books I’ve decided I’m going to eventually read check out my library page.

If you’re tired of making the same New Year’s Resolution of saving more money, loosing weight, or getting into shape, try making a reading resolution, and you will greatly appreciate all of the worlds and information that you will come upon.
