Harry Potter v. Twilight…?

I don’t understand people who try to compare the two series and try to say that Stephanie Meyer is trying to be J.K. Rowling. The two series of books are totally different.

Harry Potter is all about a boy who faces death literally in the face at least once a year. He even managed to fake out death when he was baby. As he gets older has to continue facing his worst enemy with his best friends time after time.

So in short Harry Potter is kind of like an adventure story that the whole family can enjoy.

Twilight on the other hand is not about adventure at all. It is about love. Finding that one person in your life who you would die for or give your soul to.

What bothers me the most about people who try to compare them or say someone is copying someone is that they haven’t taken the time to read at least one of the series and so therefore should not have the opinion, and when they make an opinion to someone who has read both of them sound… well…. sound kind of stupid…

Pretty much the moral of what I’m trying to say is read the books and find out for yourself instead of getting it from somewhere else or making preconceived notions. I am a serious fan for both series and will be at every midnight showing I can go to for both of them.

Keep turning the pages! 90s born reader

Happy Fathers Day!!

Happy Fathers day to all the daddys out there!!!

I’m not going to sit here and claim that my dad and I have the perfect relationship because we don’t but we did always do something together and that would be HARRY POTTER!!! When the books came out Daddy and I decided we would read them together. As I got older we would read them seperately but trying to see who could finish them first. I don’t think that I ever won because he can spee read really well which I constitute as cheating hahahaha

The Harry Potter books are definitely some of my favorite J.K. Rowling did a fantastic job with writing these amazing novels that I spent many nights reading until 4 in the morning.

The movies became a family affair with my dad, my sister, and I. Though my sister just recently started reading the books because we told her the ever fantastic movies left out a lot of stuff.

People do a lot of different things with their parents and this just happens to be what I do with my dad, well that and bowling.

Have a fantastic fathers day with many more to come!

So many books, so little time! Wait.. there’s tons of time!

I have no idea what books I want to read next, well other than continuing to read my series of Gossip Girls, Meg Cabot books, and Shanna Swendson’s and Gemma Halliday’s, but new books. I’m looking for new books!!! I need suggestions or I’m just going to aimlessly search Amazon for new books to read. I hope someone out there helps me out!

Don’t Judge a Book by its cover… why not?

The phrase “don’t judge a book by its cover” comes up a lot, and not only with books. It comes up with food, people, stores, just about anything that has to do with judging things. But why wouldn’t you judge a book by its cover?

It’s the first thing you do. You look at the title and you look at the cover if neither one of them seems interesting you put the book back down. If the title seems interesting, but the cover doesn’t you might read the inside flap on a hard back book or you might read the back on a paperback book. If the cover seems interesting it doesn’t matter what the title is you immediately read the flaps and the back to figure out  more about it.

Take the book I’m reading Chocolate Chip Cookie Murder, the title sounds amazing and the cover looks delicious, but low behold the book moves kind of slow, but I bought the book anyway. The rest of Joanne Fluke’s books look just as delicious.

So, yes we always judge a book by its cover and its okay. If we didn’t we wouldn’t come up with our favorite authors. In another case This Lullaby by Sarah Dessen doesn’t have the most exciting cover, but for some reason the title really caught my eye and ever since that book she became my favorite author.

More and Less…

So… I ended up reading a lot more books than expected, but not all of them were on my list.

I didn’t read Kite Runner and I only read a little bit of Chocolate Chip Cookie Murder. What I did read though was amazing.

I ended up reading Spying in High Heels, Undercover in High Heels(both by Gemma Halliday), Once Upon Stilettos, and Enchanted Inc (both by Shanna Swendson).

These 4 books were perfect for the cruise. They provided me romance, murder, mystery, excitement, and the compelling urge to not put the books down, though I was reading all of these on my kindle.

Look for more posts on these 4 books as I write what I thought about the book in it’s own book review.
