The Giver, Lois Lowry

the giver cover

The Giver by Lois Lowery is a classic. If you did not have to read it in middle school, and have not reread it before it comes out in theaters as a movie, I don’t know what you have been doing. The Giver is about a Utopian society that have affected themselves with “sameness”. In this society no one falls in love, has their own children, or chooses anything for themselves. Each age has their own perk until they reach adulthood after 12th year. It is twelfth year that changes the lives of children each year. After eleventh year the children find out what their role is going to be in society. For the main character, Jonas,  he has started seeing things that he cannot quite understand, but all of it will soon be shown to him as the new “Receiver” of the community. Being the “Receiver” is supposed to be a highly respected position and is a privilege, but Jonas soon finds out that it is not everything that people think it is.
The Giver is definitely a great novel, and it explores a lot of things during the reading, but alas it is just not one of my favorites. I have also read Gathering Blue and I remember liking that more, but I’m probably going to reread all four just to read them again. I’m excited for the movie, but I already know that it is going to be different from the book. Same concepts, but the characters are different, it ought to be interesting. If you haven’t read it, definitely add it to your reading list. Until next time,

Adore Me Lingerie!!

I took a chance on one of those Facebook ads, and it really paid off. I found a wonderful place to find lingerie at that has all sizes!! Yes, I mean all sizes for big girls, small girls, all sizes, and the lingerie is beautiful! For us big girls it is hard to find bras that look pretty, and make you feel pretty. Most of the time they are just for structure and support, but these are sexy!! I absolutely loge that they come with a matching panty as well, which makes it well worth the already affordable price.

If you become a VIP member then they send you an email every month asking you to buy or skip. If you do not choose either they will charge you $39.95, but don’t worry it stays in your account to use later. I have actually “forgotten” a couple of months in a row so that I wouldn’t spend the money that I wanted to spend on bras, and was able to get some more pretty things. The VIP status gets you $10 off each and every bra every time as well.

In this purchase I got some basics, black and royal blue, but trust me there is nothing basic about them!
If this is your first time click here. Your first set will be $24.95, and then you will be hooked! There are also tons of BOGO sales to look out for as well, and if you buy 6 sets the next one is on them! Happy shopping! Until next time,

If I Stay, Gayle Forman

If-I-Stay
If I Stay, by Gayle Forman is about a girl named Mia who is forced to figure out that it is like to lose everything in one instant. After losing her entire family to a car accident, and being transported to the ICU herself she has an out of body experience during her time in the hospital. During this time she has to decide if she is going to stay or if she is going to let herself go with the rest of her family. She watches as the people she cares about comes in and talks to her, but most importantly as her boyfriend, Adam, thinks of everything possible in order to see her when the nurses won’t let him. During this time flashbacks are written in to show her life with her family, and the first time she falls in love. This is a journey through love and loss and music.
I had mixed feelings about this novel. I enjoyed it and didn’t all at the same time. I just felt like I was in a perpetual sadness at all times. I was sad when the car accident happened, sad in the hospital, and just sad. Yes there were some happy moments, but not enough to pull me out of the sadness and melancholy that I was feeling. Probably because a lot of the happy moments were tinged with some sadness. I decided to read this novel because the movie is coming out soon, and the preview looks really good. So, of course I had to read it first. If you are looking for the total draw in like in The Fault In Our Stars, this is not the book, but it is very similar. I of course recommend reading it before the movie comes out. Until next time,

A Beautiful Mess, a Kelly Moore Bag

AAAAHHHHHHHH two of my favorite things to stare at on the computer came together.

Kelly Moore, check out that post here, and A Beautiful Mess, which is a wonderful blog of DIY and Recipes and photography tips. These two made a bag that explores function, business, and style in the world of photography. This bag is on the larger side, and sometimes I can’t get it to lie where I want it to on my body.

It is a beautiful briefcase style that holds everything that you need it to hold in terms of gear, and more. It can also be used as a diaper bag or anything else you want because the inside sleeve for your camera comes out as it does on the B-Hobo bag. Here are some pictures of how I use it.

It also comes with a diaper changing mat, and a container that can hold a large lens or a water bottle. It also comes in fun colors like Kelly Green and Walnut. I chose the Walnut color because I already have a Mustard Kelly Moore bag, and I wanted something that could possibly be used for school as well.  I can put basically the same amount of stuff in this bag as I can can the B-Hobo bag, with probably just a little extra room and a little more free space.

Also my iPad mini fits in the front pocket, and my surface tablet fits in the back pocket. I like having my surface instead of my macbook sometimes just because it is lighter, and I can still upload pictures on to it. With a nifty SD card reader I got from BestBuy I don’t need to know where the cords are.

This bag is close to $200, but it is a large and sturdy bag that comes with some extra things in it. I think it is just a little too wide, as I said earlier it doesn’t sit on me right, but I could just be weird.

It also comes with two straps, a matching strap, and the striped strap that matches the inside of the bag. I hope these pictures help! I’m going to try and get a picture of me with the bag, so you can see where it lays. Until next time,

Shiver, Maggie Stiefvater

shiver_book_cover Shiver by Maggie Stiefvater is about a young girl, Grace, who has found love in the most unexpected place. When she was younger she was taken into the woods by the wolves and almost attacked until one of the wolves, Sam, called off the attack. Ever since that night she looks out every evening during the winter for that one wolf only to see him watching her as well. As the years pass she develops somewhat of an obsession with the wolves, always watching them and knowing their seasons when they come and go. She thought their worlds would never come together until animal attacks start happening in her hometown and the town decides it is time to kill the wolves who live in the woods. Grace knows that she has to save Sam, but what she finds is something completely different.
I really enjoyed Shiver. I was able to read it during one shift at work, which means that it kept me entertained long enough to continue reading. I liked how there were some unexpected turns and plot twists, but I liked the general romance of the whole novel. I liked the aspect of falling in love and finding the one who is meant for you. As soon as I make it through my ever increasing list of books, I’m going to read the next one by Maggie Stiefvater! Until next time,
