I figured it out.

Yes, you heard right, I figured out how to read and do my blog during college. Though of course it might not be as often as it was during the summer, but at least I can try and catch up to whee I was before.

What I figured out was when I can’t study anymore, read anymore text books, making anymore flashcards, reading a book really clears my mind and helps me feel a lot better. Doing my blog really helps to find creative ways to write things, and make people want to read what I have to say, helping me a lot in my papers.

So, yes, more books will be read, more posts will be done. Expect the unexpected.

Until next time, keep turning the pages.

Marked (House of Night Series Book 1) by P.C. Cast

Yes, another vampire book, but this one is different. It seems like they all should be the same, there’s blood sucking, or love, or way too pretty people, but P.C. Cast finds a way to make hers different.

In the first novel in the House of Night series a young woman, Zoey Redbird, is “marked” and the world as she knows it no longer exists. By being “marked” it means that she has been chosen by the Goddess Nyx to become a vampyre. Zoey is forced to change schools to the House of Night where young vampyres, fledglings, as they’re called go to learn the history of vampyres and how to be a vampyre. The only catch with being marked is that the fledgling may or may not go through the complete change. If a fledgling does not complete the change they die.

Zoey Redbird proves time and time again that she is different than the rest of the fledglings having personally being touched by the Goddess Nyx. Not only is she an amazing future vampyre, but she finds a group of friends who she can finally call family, and feels like she fits in with everyone else.

Of course with ever heroine there is a villain, and Zoey Redbird has met her match with the most popular, or most feared, girl in school, Aphrodite. She has the pride that everyone wants, but the attitude that no one wants.

Through out Zoey’s first month of school she meets a lot issues that she has to overcome, as well as a lot of boy problems like every other teenage girl.

I thoroughly enjoyed this interesting twist on the world of vampyres. I believe that it is very refreshing and focuses more on the world of vampyres, and the twists and mysteries that go on in their world. I highly recommened reading this novel, especially if you have read any of the Harry Potter series or Twilight Series. Though none of them are the same, they each open your mind to new possibilities, which is very important in this world today.

I was correct

So, as I hypothesized in the summer it is nearly impossible to read freely. The times that I do get to read things that are not for school are when I’m on the bus, or when I’m working out. I have so many books on my kindle right now that go unread, and it makes me really sad. Lately when I do have a chance to read I have been switching it up from Eat, Pray, Love and In Search of Sisterhood. Hopefully soon I will have another book that I will have to read called, Awake by Wendy Raven McNair.

If you remember Asleep was one of the last books that I read over the summer and I loved every minute of it, so I’m really excited to continue with this trilogy and fly through that one as well.

I will continue to try and read more books, other than the numerous amount of textbooks that I have to read during school (Athletic Training major). You can always follow me on twitter, I tend to update that A little bit more.

Time has run out!!

With school starting I won’t have enough time to read as many books as I want.

This year I am attending the University of Pittsburgh as an incoming freshman. I am majoring in pre-athletic training. Just in that major I’m already swamped! Of course I’m going to try and read, but with text books, activities, sporting events, clubs, and the English classes that I’m forced to take (we all know English is not my best subject) I barely have any reading time.

Of course I’m so excited to go and start something new. I went to the same school for 14 years (K-12), so being around new people and in a new place is going to be a lot of fun.

If I think of something or if I finish a book in the 12 HOUR DRIVE to Pittsburgh I will certainly write about it.

Until then, keep turning the pages

The Perfect Place

Have you ever just wanted to find that perfect place to read, enjoy coffee or tea, or even a cookie and ice cream? Well I believe that I found that perfect place for me at Dr. Bombay’s.

Dr. Bombay’s is located in Candler Park and they serve an assortment of teas and coffee, and some amazing baked goods. All of the delicious treats are made here daily and the first time you come you will be hooked. They also sell books here. When a book is bought all the proceeds go to a place that helps animals.

The inside is just a magical feeling of comfort and subdued happiness, in the background you also will enjoy some smooth jazz. I absolutely love it here and I think that anyone should make it on their list to come find it in Atlanta. It’s definitely a well kept secret.
