Vacation/Summer List!

This post is kind of behind, but it still stands for work!

I have been noticing a lot of Summer Reading lists go across the internet lately, and I’m going to do my own! Next week I will be going on my first European adventure, or a cruise really, and I have some books that are definitely on my list! Here they are in no particular order
1. City of Heavenly Fire, Cassandra Clare
2. The Charlemagne Pursuit, Steve Berry
3. To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before, Jenny Han
4. An Abundance of Katherine, John Green
5. Shiver, Maggie Stiefvater
6. The Tiger’s Wife, Tea Obreht ( I know I still haven’t finished it!!)
These are just some of the books that I have planned, and the ones that are currently on my kindle! I have a 9 hour plane ride both ways and so I’m definitely going to need some reading material for when I’m not sleeping, which is my main goal. Also what better thing to do when out on the pool deck then read a book, and a 10 day cruise gives you plenty of time to do that. I know I’m going to blow through City of Heavenly Fire and The Venetian Betrayal, which is the only reason I have not started them yet. There are a couple more that I want to get on my kindle just to make sure that I have plenty of reading material and will not have to buy more once I’m on the boat or in Rome.

3. The Husband’s Secret, Lane Moriarty
4. And the Mountains Echoed
5. Is Everyone Hanging Out Without Me? (And Other Concerns), Mindy Kaling
So as you can see I have a lot options right now, and in a lot of different categories. I definitely know how to keep myself busy. Hopefully as I finish them I will keep my blog busy as well. Until next time,

Becoming More!

     As I spend countless time on the internet clicking from on blog to the next, from one youtube video to the next, I constantly ask myself why don’t I do more. Yes I love books, and I can’t get enough of them, but there’s so much more that I love. Like my obsession with bags, purses, and wallets, and other things that are girly. I love when people talk about what it’s like to be in college, but everyone has a different perspective.
    I watch people’s youtube videos and wonder how they make their videos so smooth, and insert pictures here, and speed up other parts there. I ask myself I can learn how to do that, and incorporate that some more. I started doing video blogging, but I let it fall off, as I became self conscious, and also never had a clean enough room to actually record myself in haha.
    I’m going on vacation and want to tell people what that’s like and make my own videos on the things I use and how I pack because I have yet to find the exact situation that I’m going to be in.
     I know there’s so much more I can do with this blog that I plan on trying to do. No more full time school, now just full time to work (Paramedic life woot!). That’s an experience all on its own, and I can’t wait to share more. Look out for some changes to my blog! Until next time,

The Hobbit: Movie vs. Book Part 2

Now, there’s a lot of positive things to say about this movie. I absolutely loved the movie! Just like I love everything about LOTR, but I have some issues with it as well. Most of the things that happen in this movie do not actually happen in the book. I personally believe the main reason that they added a lot of it was to make it into a trilogy to make money.

For example there is a lot of time spent in the river town, and not actually on the people on the quest. I understand that there is need for a back story, but how they actually found the door in the book was a little bit different than the way it occurred in the movie. Also a lot of Gandalf’s journey did not happen, but I really liked how they made that back story. Of course I will own the Extended Editions to add to my extended editions LOTR set, and I will watch them numerous times, but I’m just saying I don’t like change! But I understand the reason for it. The soundtrack to the pages

Often time I’m able to read without listening to music or having any noise around me. I often get distracted by having the TV on or the music on my laptop playing and I have to turn it off to concentrate. When I’m in public places I find that I have to read while listening to my iPod just so I can drown out the noise that is going on around me. If I don’t I find myself people watching, or not knowing what I’m reading at the time. I bet that’s true for a lot of people who like to read in their free time in public places.

     But! Have you ever had that moment when reading where your music goes seamlessly with what you’re reading? Almost like you’ve created the soundtrack for those pages? Well I have, and each time I’ve felt that no other than John Legend has been on my iPod singing All of Me.
     While I was reading The Fault in Our Stars, John Legend was singing to me and for Gus and Hazel. The book already made me cry, but this moment made me feel so much more. I had never felt such perfection in a moment. The same song, was on while reading The Book Thief with Rudy and Liesel and it completed the scene without fail.
     For someone who keeps their iPod on shuffle in order to always have a surprise, it’s strange when these match ups occur, but they make falling into an imaginary world that much better. Until next time,

Catching Fire: Movie vs. Book

     Of course I went and saw this at midnight, or really the 11:30 showing I believe it was, so sorry for the late post. Y’all know I get behind. Did I mention that I bought my tickets a month in advance too? Yeah that happened, I’m a little crazy. Anyway!  We should all know what the book is about because we read it before the movie right?! If not, shame on you! Always try to read the books before the movies! So much can be left out of a movie, like some of the questions people have, due to time constraints. You don’t want to be in the theater for 5 hours watching it, and they don’t want to spend billions making the movie.

     I think they did a great job with the movie! I didn’t feel like anything important was left out of the movie from the book. I also think that this one is my favorite from the trilogy anyway. Honestly I don’t have much to say I think that it was very well done. The only problem that I had with it, a minor problem, was the party scene and Katniss’ conversation with the new Game Keeper, and how he showed his watch at the party and Katniss caught something out of the corner of her eye. Other than that, the costumes were once again amazing, and I’m glad that the didn’t skimp on the violence that was happening in the district. I would watch it again, many times. Until next time,
