First Apartment!

I am taking another big step into adulthood! I’ve got my first real apartment!
image
I’m not talking about your college apartment that was a two bedroom, that you shared with four people, in the middle of your college town, not actually knowing your landlord, and being okay with the peeling paint on the walls.
I’m talking about, completely empty, no furniture, no groceries, no nothing. A blank canvas, or a blank space. (Anyone else have Taylor Swift go through their heads?!)
All of the blog posts that show you an apartment that seems to be built in a day are just a lie. Or they’re really rich. As someone who just got a big girl job, and moved out faster than she thought. I’ll show you what it’s like to actually have to plan, wait, and save for your apartment.  I hope you have fun following me on my journey! Until next time,

Growing Up!

You know growing up is hard to do these days. When a college degree gets you basically the same thing as high school degree used to get you, our generation is not coming out of school with the same next steps as our parents used to.
Our parents used to graduate college, get a job, and move out of the house. Now we graduate college, still probably need to find an internship to get our foot in the door, move back home, and try and plan our next steps. Yes you will always hear of the few who get the job offer out of college and are moving out without a thought, but that is not most of us.
I was a semi lucky one. I did not graduate college with a job, but after about a month and a half I lucked up on one while being in the right place at the right time. I.e. I was doing some work for free, and someone noticed and offered to at least pull my application.
Now after 6 months of working and 9 months at home I have finally decided to move out of my mom’s house. The thoughts are scary though.
Am I doing the right thing? Will I have enough money to live on my own? Am I ready to be by myself? Will I get lonely? As I start to plan my apartment and being by myself, all of these thoughts go through my head, but it’s time to take the next step.
Do you ever have any fears of growing up? Until next time,

May Books by May Designs!

During my original search for a planner I stumbled on the May Designs website, but they didn’t have the planner I was really looking for, which is how I got the Erin Condren Life Planner.

As I stumbled on them again, and again I figured it was time for me to get them. I mean they’re not that expensive, they range from $14-$22, and are customizable. Who can beat that price for something you get to make your own?!?!
So, when I got an email saying that they were doing 40% certain style I decided it was time. For my first MayBook I went with the budget planner. I like the size of the MayBooks because I feel like I can slide this budget planner in my LP and it’s not going to cause any problems, and that helps, so I always know how my money is. Also the cover is water resistant, so as long as it is closed your May Book should be okay against light spills. Now the budget planner is broken down so that each month you can write in your expenses, regular, and spur of the moment ones, and help to keep track of your budget.
Right now I’m not sure how to use it for its full potential, but when I move into my apartment in January, I’m pretty sure I’ll be using it a lot more.
Then May Designs was on Oprah’s favorite things! Who doesn’t want to be like Oprah! They were 40% off all over again, so this time I got two!! I got the planner version for 2015, and also a food intake/exercise journal.
Here you can see how I customized mine, and about what size they are.

You can see that it is about the same size as my iPad mini, and almost as thin as well.
The way the planer is set out kind of surprised me. It is a month and week base, but instead of the weeks following each month, it goes all of the months, and then all the weeks after it. Just a little different for me, but it is so cute!

The food/exercise journal is different too because I normal put things in MyFitnessPal, and that helps to tell me the calories, while this will only remind of the food I eat, and what exercises I do….if any…

The budget planner is designed month by month, and you go through and write in all of your expenses and savings to help you keep track of how much money you have.

During 2015 I’m going to try and use all of these more. There are so many new things happening for me in 2015 that I think all of these will come in handy. Did I mention they’re personalized..?!?! Until next time

#MedicLife: IFT/NET

What a lot of people don’t know about EMS is that there is a part that is not strictly 911, emergency, go lights and sirens, SOMEONE IS DYING!
There is another part that is strictly what we call “non-emergency transport”, or “interfacility transport”.
These transports happen when patients, most of the time critical, ventilator dependent, or can’t otherwise walk or get to the hospital themselves, have to go from one hospital to another for specialty care or a doctors appointment. Sometimes these happens from home to hospital, or from assisted living to hospital because these people cannot be safely transported in a car, and therefore have to go by ambulance.
For the time being this is what I do. I like it because it is steady, and you know what you’re getting into. I also get to learn a lot more about medical problems, and not just more skills, and a whole bunch of trauma. I really like what I do so it makes it easier to go to work every day. Until next time,

Season to be Thankful!

Thankful
I know that it is no longer Thanksgiving, but that doesn’t mean it is time to be any less thankful. For me, 2014 has been a magnificent year.
Being that my birthday is in January, I always start out the year with my birthday, and thankful that I’ve seen another one.
March I had the opportunity to go on a Spring Break trip with my best friend, and I initiated 6 incredible women into my sorority.
April I graduated from one of the best universities, University of Pittsburgh, and earned a degree that I worked very hard for, and am currently working in my degree field.
May I finally had the time to relax and reflect on my time at Pitt
June I was hired as a new paramedic, and I got to travel across the world with friends and family for the ultimate vacation.
When I got back in July, I still had a job waiting for me, where since then I have met amazing coworkers and friends.
August I started more school as a post-bac student to try and further my education.
October I was able to go back to Alma Mater and see all of my friends at Homecoming.
November I signed a lease on my first big girl apartment
and now coming up in December, I will be celebrating 6 months at my first big girl job!!
There are so many other things to be thankful for, like my family, and my friends who are always there for me to help me do whatever. For example, I told my best friend I got an apartment, and the first thing she told me was to let her know when I needed help moving in! That’s love right there.
I can go on and on about my mom and my dog, but that’s not necessary. So, just take a moment and remember everything that happened this year, all the good! There’s no need to dwell on the bad, and be thankful that each of those experiences happened. Until next time,
