Angelfall (Penryn and the End of Days), Susan Ee

angelfall-book-cover-artThe world has come to an end. There is death, destruction, and devastation everywhere. The Angels have descended on to Earth and have been warring with Demons. They have destroyed everything we know and hold dear. Penny and her family are trying to survive in this new world, knowing that at any point they could die. Peryn has a younger sister in a wheelchair, and her mom is crazy and has been battling the demons inside of her. When trying to move location they run into the demon angels battling another angel, which ends with the angel getting his wing cut off, and Penryn doing the unexpected. Penryn decides to help the angel and distracts the demon angels from killing him. By helping out the angel, her sister was kidnapped by the demon angel, which made an already horrible world even worse for Penryn. Penryn now has two choices; keep trying to survive, or go and find her sister.
I really enjoyed reading the first book of this series. It was very similar to Fallen Series by Lauren Kate. I think I might have even enjoyed it more for the sheer fact that there was more action involved in the story. The romance began to simmer during the story, but it wasn’t prominent in the story. I’m going to continue reading this series to see what happens next. Until next time,

Torment (Fallen Series Book 2), Lauren Kate

TormentFallen is about a young girl, Lucinda “Luce” Price,  who has seen the world through many time periods and eras, and has loved in every generation of her life. The only thing is, she doesn’t remember any of these lives, and how she is tied to the people around her now. When her current life falls apart after the mysterious death of her boyfriend during a fire, her parents send her off to a reform school because they don’t know how to handle what happened. Now that she’s a part of this school she notices that she is drawn to certain people and certain boys at her new school, and has the feeling that she knows them from somewhere, but doesn’t remember well. Her new friend, Arianne, is some what of a character and unlike anyone she has ever been friends with before. She also finds both, Cameron and Daniel, to be two attractive boys who she wants to find out more about. If going to reform school wasn’t bad enough imagine feeling and seeing things that you don’t understand.

Fallen by Lauren Kate was a crazy book. It was filled with so many twists and turns that you didn’t see coming. It was a book that you thought you knew exactly what was going on, but then all of a sudden something changed. I definitely recommend this book if you are looking for another romance triangle, with some supernatural elements, and some fun twists and turns. Until next time,

Clockwork Angel (Infernal Devices), Cassandra Clare

Clockwork-Angel-Cover

If you thought Cassandra Clare was done after the stories of Jace and Clary, you were wrong. She decided to show us the beginning of their stories with a little trip back in time to London, to start at the stories of Tessa, Will, and Jem. Their story starts off a little different, with Will rescuing an unknown damsel in distress, Tessa. Tessa finds herself in the hands of two great Shadowhunters, Will and Jem, but she also finds out that she has powers that she never knew she had. It turns out Tessa is a shape shifter, and somehow part demon though she has no idea how that happened. Life at the Institute is changed forever after Tessa has come to be apart of their family and home.

What I do really like about this series is that if you read Mortal Instruments first, you will see a lot of names in this book that you saw before like Wayland, Lightwood, and Magnus Bane. It is those little details that help bring both books together and allows you to see where some of the characters got the personality that we see from Mortal Instruments in Infernal Devices.

There are a lot cool twists and turns to this book, which I would expect from Clare, but at the same time I felt like I was still readying The Mortal Instruments series. There was a really attractive male with a hot head attitude, and a girl who had more powers than she actually new about who is in love with the hot headed boy, and that same boy doesn’t know how to act around her. Another female who think she’s too good for most, and another male who is the lesser, but still amazing version of the boy.

City of Lost Souls (Mortal Instruments), Cassandra Clare

IT’S THE FINAL COUNT DOWN!!! (Yes I know the song is now stuck in your head.

It’s official Jace has gone off the deep end and Clary only know one thing. How to love Jace. Oh, and that she has a crazy brother who has a plan to dominate the world but doesn’t have a definitive name.. is it Sebastian or is it Jonathan. He doesn’t even know.  Jordan and Maia are finding themselves, Simon once again is trying to save the world by himself, and Alec and Magnus need to get some relationship counseling. But seriously that’s the whole book in a nutshell. I don’t want to say too much, but through all this Clare has me captivated reading City of Lost Souls the whole time.
Of course I loved this book. Who wouldn’t love the last one? If you’ve made it this far loving every step you’re going to love the las step as well. I recommend this book to anyone and everyone, but you have to read the first 4 first. I’ve said so much about the last 4 that I think you all understand my slight obsession. So please until next time,
