Lady Midnight, Cassandra Clare

Lady Midnight

It’s been five years since what has come to be known as the “Dark War”, the “Cold Peace” has been placed into effect and tensions are high amongst Downworlders and Shadowhunters. Jace and Clary have helped to save the world as we know it, and have gone on to run the New York Institute. Magnus and Alec have started a family, and have helped to make it so that shadow hunters can marry Downworlders.
Meanwhile in the LA Institute the Blackthornes along with Emma Carstairs have had to hold their lives together ever since Sebastian Morganstern and the Endarkened ruined their lives. Julian Blackthorn was forced to kill his own father five years ago when he became part of the Endarkened and threatened the lives of his brothers and sisters. Both of Emma’s parents were killed, the Clave believed it was by Sebastian, but Emma believes otherwise. During these years, Emma has found information and clues that lead her to who actually find out who her parents killer are. Julian has to take on the roll of brother, father, and leader of the institute, and has to deal with a lot of things that someone his age should never have to deal with. Through it all Emma and Julian have each other and their parabatai bond that helps them get through the dark times and betrayal they are about to face.
I absolutely loved this book. I was so happy to get back into the world of the Shadowhunters and Downworlders because it is such an amazing series. I’m not really one to reread books, but I continue to consider reading each one of Cassandra Clare’s books over again, but maybe in a different order. This book gave you everything that you were missing from not having Shadowhunters in your life. Action, drama, love, and flawless timing of all the different characters and generations of Shadowhunters that you have seen in her previous works. I cannot wait to read Lord of Shadows next. Until next time,

Clockwork Princess (Infernal Devices), Cassandra Clare

-Clockwork-Princess

I still can’t believe this is the last book. I was sad when I started reading it because I knew that this was the end of the series. Well, lets see what happens.

In this one Tessa really comes into her own and finds out what it means to be a Shadowhunter and it seems like she really likes what she’s becoming apart of and loves her new family. There’s also some sounds of wedding bells in the air, but who are the ones getting married?!  Will also has an unexpected guest into the Institute as well, but I don’t want to give that away quite yet. Tessa, Will, and Jem think they have found out exactly where the magister is hiding, and how to get rid of him.
In my opinion Jem is the strongest one of them all and has decided how long he wants to live, and what he wants to live for. What I also loved about this particular book was how much love was in the air even with all of the dark times going on in the Institute. Even the Lightwoods with all of their troubles have managed to find love in unexpected places. I’ve already said multiple times how much I love this series. Trying to summarize it without giving everything is the hardest thing that I’ve ever had to write. I’m sad that this series is over, and I hope that Cassandra Clare has more coming for us. If she doesn’t I hope that more and more people read these miraculous series both The Mortal Instruments, and Infernal Devices. I know that she will with the move coming out soon. Until next time,

Clockwork Angel (Infernal Devices), Cassandra Clare

Clockwork-Angel-Cover

If you thought Cassandra Clare was done after the stories of Jace and Clary, you were wrong. She decided to show us the beginning of their stories with a little trip back in time to London, to start at the stories of Tessa, Will, and Jem. Their story starts off a little different, with Will rescuing an unknown damsel in distress, Tessa. Tessa finds herself in the hands of two great Shadowhunters, Will and Jem, but she also finds out that she has powers that she never knew she had. It turns out Tessa is a shape shifter, and somehow part demon though she has no idea how that happened. Life at the Institute is changed forever after Tessa has come to be apart of their family and home.

What I do really like about this series is that if you read Mortal Instruments first, you will see a lot of names in this book that you saw before like Wayland, Lightwood, and Magnus Bane. It is those little details that help bring both books together and allows you to see where some of the characters got the personality that we see from Mortal Instruments in Infernal Devices.

There are a lot cool twists and turns to this book, which I would expect from Clare, but at the same time I felt like I was still readying The Mortal Instruments series. There was a really attractive male with a hot head attitude, and a girl who had more powers than she actually new about who is in love with the hot headed boy, and that same boy doesn’t know how to act around her. Another female who think she’s too good for most, and another male who is the lesser, but still amazing version of the boy.

City of Glass (Mortal Instruments), Cassandra Clare

Well Cassandra Clare continues to amaze and entice me with the next Mortal Instruments book, City of Glass. If you haven’t read the first two books City of Bones and City of Ashes click on the titles to read my posts! Clary and Jace are no ordinary people and they’re starting to figure exactly what that means. After the fight between Valentine and his demonic army, and the Shadowhunters, everyone finally understands that Valentine truly is back, and he is plotting his ride to the top. In order to try and get things solved and accomplished Jace and the Lightwoods are heading to Alacante to try and get the Clave’s help. Clary of course wants to go as well because she has never seen Alacante, but Jace tries to do everything in his power to keep Clary from there for her own safety…well so he says.
Clary being Clary she finds away for her and Luke to get there so that she can find the way to save her mother.

Once there as usual when it comes to Clary and Jace, all hell breaks loose and it is up to those two to make everything right again. Along the way they find out more about themselves and about Valentine.

As usual I absolutely love this series!!! I cannot wait to read the next two books and the prequel series Infernal Devices. I honestly don’t have much else to say other than READ THESE BOOKS!!!
