Winter_CoverWinter by Marissa Meyer picks up directly from where we left off the last time. Cinder and her crew are still finding away to defeat the Lunar Queen, Levanna. Princess Winter is the main insight of this story. Princess Winter is the most beautiful Princess in Lunar, if not the entire solar system. It is because of her beauty that she is a threat to Levanna. Princess Winter is also crazy, or at least that is what the people of Lunar think. The Princess is the nicest person on the Lunar Satellite, but when Queen Levanna gets jealous of Princess Winter’s beauty she scars Princess Winter. With Princess Winter being Lunar she should be able to glamour herself, but Princess Winter refuses to use her gifts. Instead she walks around showing her scar even though it is said that her glamour is the most beautiful of them all. When a Lunar does not use their gifts it takes over their mind and causes them to go insane.The Princess has done a good job of managing her illness, but sometimes it does get the better of her. Though the Princess is ill do not mistake her for weak. She is one  of the strongest characters in here, and does her part to help Cinder and her friends.
The “Lunar Chronicles” final installment is just as captivating as the first books. I really enjoyed reading the whole series even though the first book, Cinder, took me awhile to get in to. The whole series plays an interesting twist on our favorite fairy tale characters, and for the battle of good vs. evil.  The series follows a group of unlikely friends and allies into situations that they never imagined themselves in. Cinder and her friends have come together to fight for what they believe in. Until next time,

Cress (The Lunar Chronicles), Marissa Meyer

Rapunzel, Rapunzel let down your hair!
Cress has been living in this satellite away from Lunar for what feels like a lifetime. Even though she is stranded without human or Lunar contact she is supposed to keep tabs on everything happening on Earth. Well, according to Mistress she is supposed to for the Lunar Queen. To Cress the, everything is not so black and white, and she makes the decision to help Cinder and Scarlet even though they don’t know her… yet.
I still have continued to enjoy this series, and seeing where it takes you! All the twists and turns, and the continued growth of all of the characters. I highly recommend you keep going through the series. I cannot wait for he next book to come out in the series! I read some bad reviews on, Fairest, so I will probably read that closer to when Winter comes out in the fall! Until next time,

Cinder (The Lunar Chronicles), Marissa Meyer

Cinder_CoverNow, you all know how I love a good series. I finally started and finished reading Cinder by Marissa Meyer. Cinder is a modern and futuristic take on the story of Cinderella. In Meyer’s version of Cinderella we are placed in a time after fourth World War that has destroyed the world as we know it and has created an entirely different Earth. There are now humans and cyborgs, humans that have been altered with robot-like parts. Our leading lady, Cinder, is a Cyborg. Cinder, just like Cinderella is living with an awful step mother who does not want her, an awful step sister, and one nice step sister. She is forced to work for the family as a mechanic, but she happens to be the best in the Commonwealth. Instead of everything being all singing animals and Fairy Godmothers, there is true conflict in the Commonwealth. The Commonwealth is faced with a disease called Letumosis that reeks havoc on the population causing numerous deaths including the emperor of the Commonwealth, causing a young Prince Kai to come into the throne having to deal with both the epidemic, and a competing nation of the Lunars.
There’s so much more going on in Meyer’s version of Cinderella, but I don’t want to go into too much detail and I want to leave it up to you to figure out. I like her version because it is different, and darker. It is not just about all the singing animals, and Cinderella being nice to everyone, there’s a lot more going on. While reading I thought she also put in some things that are plaguing our world today. I would recommend this book. It is an easy read, and there are more fairy tales that she uses to weave her story. Until next time,
