Redeemed_cover Neferet is back, and it is up to the Tulsa House of Night to stop her for good. Zoey Redbird  finds herself not only battling Neferet, but also the battle of Light and Dark inside her. She has to find a way to calm the storm inside of her before she can truly be the High Priestess she is supposed to be. Meanwhile Neferet has shown Tulsa her true colors and has declared herself a Goddess and Queen Tsi Sigli, and has taken over the Mayo building. With the help of some unlikely people like Kalona and Detective Marx a plan is set in motion to help bring down Neferet. The people of Tulsa are having to trust the vampyres at the TulsaHouse of Night, and actually ask for protection and sanctuary.

I don’t want to give too much away because there is so muchhappening in this final installment of the House of Night series! We continue to find out more about Kalona, and how is past isaffecting his present, and also darkness can easily come about. We see what it is like to take responsibility for actions, evenif those outcomes were not what you had in mind. We see that itis okay to have a support system, and to lean on them, but to also know when to stand on our own two feet. Through Zoey Redbird’s story we learn a lot about love, loss, friendship, and leadership. Only Zoey’s story is not the only one that was introduced through out this series. Kalona’s story is very well put together teaching us how to taken ownership from our mistakes, and how to grow and overcome them, and Neferet’s story shows us how muchour past, and our pain can consume us into something we don’t even recognize. During this series we also learn that there is love, always love. Merry meet, and merry meet aging. Until next time,

Burned by P.C. and Kristin Cast (House of NIght Series 7)

Burned by P.C. and Kristin Cast starts off exactly where we left off with Zoey Redbird and her group of friends. Zoey has just witnessed the death of the love of her life by Kalona and in a spite of rage and defense, she throws all of her spirit energy at Kalona and in turn splits apart her soul. What would seem like death is not a true death, but a part of her does die inside. Zoey’s broken soul is then sent to a sort of purgatory in Nyx’s realm where it is up to her and Keith, who is actually dead, to try and help her get back. During this adventure in Nyx’s world, Stevie Rae is having to grow into her roll of a high priestess for the red fledglings and also into her feelings for the fallen Raven Mocker. While Stevie Rae and Zoey are doing what is needed for them, Aphrodite, Stark, and the “nerd herd” are doing everything possible to make sure Zoey’s spirit makes it back into her body safely, so that Zoey remains alive. If she doesn’t there is nothing but impending doom for the rest of the world.
In each of the students separate adventures each individual student is coming into their own strengths and finding out more about themselves than they could ever imagine. Stevie Rae is learning the importance of being a leader and how not always the best choice is the favored one. Aphrodite is learning that even though she is no longer a vampyre, her gifts are still with her as a prophetess of Nyx, and is learning how to further use those powers to do more. Stark is learning what it truly means to be a warrior for Zoey and how much sacrifice it’s going to take for someone he loves. The so-called “nerd herd” is using their talents of being able to work together to find out pertinent information to save Zoey. Last but not least, Keith. Though Keith is dead, and he knows it, he is still madly in love with Zoey to know that he has to make the ultimate sacrifice to help Zoey get back to where she needs to be.
Though I believe somewhere in the middle of the series before this one the books kind of fell off, but the need to keep reading them was still there. This one really picked it back up for me. It could also have been that I took a break from them instead of reading one a week. This book, Burned,  got back to the true meaning of young people doing extraordinary things to help out others and I was really excited that I picked it up again. I definitely recommend people to keep reading them because they keep getting better and better and I will do my best to continue to read them as well.
Until Next Time,

Betrayed (House of Night Series book 2) by P.C. Cast

Zoey Redbird is back and she continues to make her mark on the world and at the House of Night. At the end of the last novel Zoey Redbird proved just how blessed she is form the Goddess Nyx. Zoey has proven that she not only has an affnity for all five elements; wind, fire, water, earth, and spirit, but that her friends have been given an affinity for them also. Each one of her friends as one of the elements, making her circle of fledglings the most powerful yet.

Of course we are told that with great power, comes great responsibility. Due to Zoey’s wonderful character, and power Zoey becomes the new leader of the Dark Daughters instead of Aphrodite. Zoey has a wonderful vision and plan to recreate the selective group in a better image and with group input, but when it comes to tell everyone of her ideas, her “mentor” Neferet steals the show throwing the first warning to Zoey.

After her first successful circle, her best friend and roommate dies, and doesn’t complete the change leaving her alone, hurt, and grieving. Zoey has a lot to learn about her mentor and her best friends and all of it is very difficult to understand, and she can’t do it alone, but she believes she has to.

The second novel, Betrayed, is just as gripping as the first. I could not stop reading it wanting to know what was going on next in Zoey Redbird’s world and how she is going to handle whatever is thrown at her. I don’t think that I have to recommend this one because after reading this one and the first I already know that you are hooked and are looking forward to the third.

Until next time, keep turning the pages.
