Movies…the visual’s book

never judge a book by movie

Not only do I love books, but I love movies as well. Especially books that have been turned into movies. I love to see exactly, or almost exactly, what the author had intended for his or her characters. What they looked like, how they move and how they react to different things.

Movies to me are similar to books in that they let you escape to a different place. You know you’re in a movie theater or on your couch, but for those 2 hours you are apart of that movie and what those characters are going through. What I like about books instead is that I can make up what the characters look like, and they affect me differently because it’s how I see the characters. Also I can put down the book when I don’t have time to read it. Unlike a movie I need to make sure that I have enough time to see it all or I get anxious about not seeing the whole thing.
What I always like to do is to attempt to read the book before I see the movie, especially if I was somehow unaware that there is a book. If I’ve read the book then sometimes I try to reread it, but that can be asking a little too much.
If you’ve noticed, if I have read the book and seen the movie I try to do a side by side post about it, so look out for those, and let me know what books I need to read, or what movies I need to see. Netflix and I are good friends!
Most of all though I have seen so many movie and plan on seeing so many more. Like The Hobbit, Life of Pi, and of course James Bond. Now that exams are over I might actually get to do that, and sit in my bed and read some books. Look out for my posts!

FINALS WEEK!!!!!

Good Grief

So of course we know the most stressful part of any person in school’s life is finals week. Teachers and parents a like try and tell you that it’s just a review of what you learned during the school year, but that kind of logic makes no sense to us at the time. Instead we stay up late, do all nighters (mmm not me), mainline caffeine (that’s more my style), and possibly have a couple of panic attacks just to get through the exam. Then afterwards, we walk out of their with different opinions.

The Show Off: “Oh, that was so easy, I don’t even know why I studied”
The Relief: “Oh my goodness I’m so glad that’s over with I thought I was going to lose it!”
The Caffeine Addict: “During the whole exam I couldn’t stop twitching, thank goodness that’s over with so I can go to bed”
The Alcoholic: “So who’s ready to hit the bar”
And so on and so forth, there are so many types of people at the end of the exam, but at the beginning we’re in the same boat. Missing notes, can’t find handouts, don’t remember the hundreds of page numbers you had to learn and you continue to ask yourself, “Why did I pick this major?!”
In my major our lives are a little different. Yes, we have exams, but also have clinical hours. Now no we’re not nurses, we’re not pharmacists, and we’re not doctors, we’re training to be paramedics, so that means our clinical hours are a little different.
They can happen at any 24 hours time period of the day, any day of the week including weekends, and if they’re not done they can take over your holidays. You also have to see patients and interact with them as well. of course we all love this program and we cherish the hands on experience, but you haven’t seen tired until you’ve seen a medic student, who then has about 6-7  exams in 2 days.
But we’re in the Emergency field right? We should be able to handle stress right? WRONG! We’re still students, so school is still the most stressful thing in our lives. Saving lives, we’re good at and we have confidence in ourselves, testing and GPAs… that’s a different story.
Now that exams are over though we’re ready to take a breather and then get on to the next semester to start all over again. Any good stress relievers out there?

City of Lost Souls (Mortal Instruments), Cassandra Clare

IT’S THE FINAL COUNT DOWN!!! (Yes I know the song is now stuck in your head.

It’s official Jace has gone off the deep end and Clary only know one thing. How to love Jace. Oh, and that she has a crazy brother who has a plan to dominate the world but doesn’t have a definitive name.. is it Sebastian or is it Jonathan. He doesn’t even know.  Jordan and Maia are finding themselves, Simon once again is trying to save the world by himself, and Alec and Magnus need to get some relationship counseling. But seriously that’s the whole book in a nutshell. I don’t want to say too much, but through all this Clare has me captivated reading City of Lost Souls the whole time.
Of course I loved this book. Who wouldn’t love the last one? If you’ve made it this far loving every step you’re going to love the las step as well. I recommend this book to anyone and everyone, but you have to read the first 4 first. I’ve said so much about the last 4 that I think you all understand my slight obsession. So please until next time,

Awakened (House of Night Series book 8), P.C. Cast and Kristen Cast

Zoey and Stark are back from the Realm of Nyx and they are starting to find out what exactly being a consort means for Stark now. With all that they have been through their relationship continues to grow stronger on the Isle, but they aren’t quite ready to go back to the real world. Though everything in the real world is not quite as wonderful as it is on the Isle.

Back at school Stevie Rae, Aphrodite and everyone else are dealing with a lot of things from death of friends and families to the school reopening. Neferet is back in charge and is getting more and more powerful every day because there is no evidence of all the wrong she has done, and Kalona has a plan to get his powers back.
So much is happening in the next book of this series. Awakened is once again another book that really grabbed my attention the whole entire time of reading it. If you got bored somewhere around book 6 or 7 keep going!! They really pick and more and more is adding on. I really enjoyed every minute of it and would definitely recommend it to everyone and to keep going with the readings!

City of Fallen Angels, Cassandra Clare

Of course Cassandra Clare has continued to make this series everything that i can hope for and plain continuing to read these, even as school quickly approaches. City of Fallen Angels is once again tantalizing and filled with romance and twists. If you haven’t read the first three check out City of BonesCity of Ashes, and City of Glass posts by clicking on the title.

Saving the world once again from destruction, you would think everything would be all smiles for Clary and Jace, and it starts out just as that for those two. Clary gets to start Shadowhunter training with Jace and others under strict rules by Clary’s mother, Joscelin. While Clary gets to learn how to defend herself and learn more about being a Shadowhunter, Joscelin is finally planning her wedding with Luke, the love of each of their lives.

It’s not soon after that everything seems great, that things start going down hill. First a member of each clan of downworlders is found dead and it is up to the Shadowhunters to figure out what is happening. Then in the love smitten world of Jace and Clary, Jace starts acting weird again towards Clary and tries to “fix” everything by himself without talking to Clary.
Simon on the other side of things is having to learn how to deal with the mark of Cane, Clary gave him. He is also finding out that his mom is suspicious of the way he has been acting recently and is close to finding out his secret. Simon is also learning that he is a hot/ feared commodity among the vampire world and that everyone wants him in some way, shape, or form.
Of course I absolutely loved this book. I could not put this book down at all, I had to keep reading it because of the suspense, the romance, and the mysteries that the characters added to the book with their relationships to one another. Also the Cassandra Clare introduced some new and very important characters to this story as well. If you haven’t started this series yet, you need to get on it. You won’t be able to put it down and you will love every last minute of it. Until next time,
