Hunted (House of Night Series Book 5) P.C. Cast

For Zoey all the secrets are now out. Neferet is evil, the red fledglings are no longer a secret and neither is Stevie Rae’s new vampyre status. The only problem is the newly risen Kalona has everyone else under his spell, so Zoey and her friends have no choice but to flee. With their new hiding spot with the red fledglings they feel confident and strong under the Earth, but Zoey still feels like something is hiding in the dark tunnels under the depot. Yes the red fledglings have fixed up the tunnels under the depot to make it more like home, but still she can tell that Stevie Rae is not telling her everything she knows.

The continuing journey of Zoey Redbird gets more interesting, but also kind of stays the same. She has boy problems, she has to save the world, and her friends are with her every step of the way. So yes, the story keeps going and it makes you want to keep reading, but not much changes.

Until next time keep turning the pages!

Untamed (House of Night Series Book 4) P.C. Cast

Forget boy drama this novel, Zoey has lost all of her boyfriends, and has even lost her friends. Ironically the only person Zoey has is Aphrodite. Neferet had everyone believe that Aphrodite had lost Nyx’s connection, but it turns out Aphrodite still gets her visions, and a lot of them have to do with Zoey dying. Too add to complications there is a new kid at the House of Night, but he is not a newly changed fledgling instead he is a transfer student.

More and more darkness is developing at the House of Night and without the comfort of her friends Zoey is finding it a little more difficult than usual. In one of Aphrodite’s visions Zoey’s Cherokee heritage comes into play with an old legend. The old legend does not bring good things to come, instead it brings nothing but danger and suffering, but it also involves her Grandmother. With Grandma Redbird in danger Zoey asks her Grandmother to come stay with her. Another bit of knowledge in this novel is that crows and ravens are not the same thing, but I will leave you to figure that one out.

Untamed is my favorite in the series so far. It combines a lot of people, the past and the present, and it sends us on a lot of twists and turns. Yes it continues to be a little repetitive and corny, but that to me makes it worth reading. If you’re on the third one and you’re not sure to go on or not at least read this one and then you will be hooked trying to decide if good will triumph over evil.

Until next time keep turning the pages!

Chosen (House of Night Series Book 3) P.C. Cast

A good way to put the Casts third novel Chosen, is a lot of boy drama. Between her need for the friendship with Erik Night, the imprint with her human boyfriend Heath, and the sexual tension from her teacher Loren Blake does not help her already growing responsibilities. With Stevie Rae kind of back in Zoey’s life, but very different Zoey has to find a way to help her undead best friend. Not only that but something is up with her mentor Neferet. Zoey can tell that her mentor has changed a lot and not for the better. Because of all of her problems and her secrets her friends start to loose trust in her and she is forced to befriend her old nemesis Aphrodite to help solve her problems. The one person Zoey has to lean on is her Grandmother. Her Ms. Redbird is someone who fully accepts Zoey for who she is, which provides Zoey with comfort because her mother and step-father do not.

I’m not going to lie the books are a little rough and repetitive but they are addictive. It’s hard once you’ve started the series to stop reading them. The authors spend a lot of time recapping what has happened in the previous books, which is annoying because you would think we have read the books this being the third. They’re corny enough to continue reading, so please do.

Until next time keep turning the pages!

Betrayed (House of Night Series book 2) by P.C. Cast

Zoey Redbird is back and she continues to make her mark on the world and at the House of Night. At the end of the last novel Zoey Redbird proved just how blessed she is form the Goddess Nyx. Zoey has proven that she not only has an affnity for all five elements; wind, fire, water, earth, and spirit, but that her friends have been given an affinity for them also. Each one of her friends as one of the elements, making her circle of fledglings the most powerful yet.

Of course we are told that with great power, comes great responsibility. Due to Zoey’s wonderful character, and power Zoey becomes the new leader of the Dark Daughters instead of Aphrodite. Zoey has a wonderful vision and plan to recreate the selective group in a better image and with group input, but when it comes to tell everyone of her ideas, her “mentor” Neferet steals the show throwing the first warning to Zoey.

After her first successful circle, her best friend and roommate dies, and doesn’t complete the change leaving her alone, hurt, and grieving. Zoey has a lot to learn about her mentor and her best friends and all of it is very difficult to understand, and she can’t do it alone, but she believes she has to.

The second novel, Betrayed, is just as gripping as the first. I could not stop reading it wanting to know what was going on next in Zoey Redbird’s world and how she is going to handle whatever is thrown at her. I don’t think that I have to recommend this one because after reading this one and the first I already know that you are hooked and are looking forward to the third.

Until next time, keep turning the pages.

Awake by Wendy Raven McNair

The next novel in Wendy Raven McNair’s series is just as gripping as the first one. Adisa is back and finding out what it means to have the most helpful powers, and being the most sought after.

As Adisa finds out what it means to be a superhero, whom she has wanted to be one since she was younger, she finds out that it is not all fun and games, and that by just flicking her wrist or saying the magic words she ill be able to heal people. She finds out that it is a lot of hard work to completely master her powers of healing, but time is running out for the one she loves, and she needs to find a way to heal him soon. Not only that but Adisa has caught word that her biological father wants to see her, but he is the most wanted man in the Spz world.

McNair’s second novel in this series is as impossible to put down as the first one. In this second one so many questions are answered and it opens your eyes to see more into the world of everyday super heros, the Spz world, who keep their existence a secret from us. Of course I highly recommend reading the second one and getting all of those questions you had in the first novel, answered in the second one, plus a lead in to the wonderful power that Adisa has, but has yet to find it.
